Dr. Poteet received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia and her Doctorate from the New England College of Optometry where she was elected to the Beta Sigma National Optometric Honor Society. She completed internships in pediatric vision care, contact lenses, primary eye care, and ocular disease.
During her training in Boston, Dr. Poteet served as a volunteer providing eye care in the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans. Upon graduation, Dr. Poteet completed a post-doctoral residency in ocular disease and primary care with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs in Boston. This specialized residency was associated with Harvard’s ophthalmology program and instruction was received in glaucoma, diabetic eye care, and geriatrics.
Dr. Poteet is a Certified Nutrition Specialist, Fellow of the Ocular Nutrition Society and Vice President of the Ocular Nutrition Society. She also has a special interest in autism research.
Dr. Poteet lives in Acworth with her husband and two boys. Her family attends The First United Methodist Church in Marietta and she is proud to serve on the Board of Trustees at The Walker School. She is an avid reader and loves to travel with her family.
